Senator Walters understands the need to get the citizens of North Carolina back to work. As a small business owner and lifelong resident of Robeson County, Senator Walters knows that reducing the unemployment rate by creating good paying jobs will jumpstart the local economy and get it moving forward again.
Education
Senator Walters recognizes the crucial relationship that exists between education, workforce development, and economic development in our region. Senator Walters’ wife, Dr. Barbara Walters, is a retired educator with thirty years combined experience in Robeson County Public Schools and Robeson Community College. Senator Walters hopes to continue his wife’s dedication to public education in Hoke and Robeson counties.
Health Care
As a member of the Executive Committee of the Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, Senator Walters is constantly working to provide affordable, accessible health care to working families and the middle class throughout Robeson and Hoke counties.
Agriculture
Senator Walters grew up on the family tobacco farm and continues to be involved in agriculture through his family business. Senator Walters is open to new and innovative economic development in the area of agriculture and works with farmers to provide new opportunities for agricultural diversification.
